Android Q BetaThe first beta version of Android Q is available. The latest version of the mobile operating system can be downloaded for people with a Google Pixel smartphone. You should all know this about the first Android Q beta.

First Android Q beta to download now

The moment has finally arrived. Google has released the first Android Q-beta for all Pixel phones. This is the first developer beta (Developer Preview 1) that is not yet intended for the general public. People who participate in the beta program can already try the update.

Do you have a Google Pixel and do you want to test the latest software first? Then follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Android beta website and log in to your Google account;
  2. Select the device on which you want to install the Android Q-beta;
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen, after which the update will be sent to your phone.

Android QThe update is quite substantial and larger than 1GB. So make sure you download the software via a Wi-Fi network. It is also wise to back up your Android phone beforehand because there is a high risk of bugs and errors.

It is not yet clear when more device manufacturers will participate in the public beta of Android-Q. In the public test of Android 9.0 (Pie) last year, seven telephone makers participated: Nokia, OnePlus, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo and Essential. This year the Android-Q beta appears on more devices, but it is not yet clear which brands that are.

If your phone falls under suitable smartphones, you can also download the test version later. Be aware that it is provisional software. The chance that you encounter bugs and errors is therefore high. Don’t you fancy this? Then wait for the final, stable update of Android Q.

Android Q improves privacy and security

With Android-Q, Google is working hard to improve your privacy and to offer better security for your smartphone. This makes face recognition safer and you can count on more privacy-oriented functions. Android Q also introduces a system-wide dark mode, so that app builders no longer have to install this function ‘separately’.

In the first version for developers, all these innovations are not yet included. Developers mainly use the update to prepare their apps for the new version. Do you want to stay informed about Android Q? Then Subscribe to Blog via Email!
